A Strategy for Happiness

“People are about as happy as they make up their mind to be” Abraham Lincoln.

Everything in life has a strategy, whether it is falling in love, winning an election, a football match or being happy.

Strategy simply means “how to achieve a certain outcome”.

If you spend most time wishing to be more like your neighbour, you’d soon find yourself discontent and unhappy. That’s a strategy for unhappiness.

If you spend more time watching 24 hours news with bomb blasts, random shootings and the fear peddled by mainstream media, you’ll find yourself worried sick and unhappy.

However if you spent more time in the spirit of the Season of Christmas, listening to carols, spending quality time with family and friends, recounting your blessings and writing your gratitude list, then surely you’d find happiness.

Decide to be happy. Then formulate a series of steps which you can implement to achieving that outcome. Like the man said, be happy for no particular reason, if you were happy for a reason, that reason can be taken away from you.

Warm Regards,
