Why don’t we have change in Nigeria?
“We don’t have change sir”.
That’s the regular speech I’m sure every Nigerian will hear on any given day at restaurants, fuel stations, beer parlours and just about any place where service is supposed to be provided.
You buy something of N300 meatpie give them N1000 note and you guessed it! No change!!
Who’s eating the change? This is a conspiracy! When you insist, they go to a back door and five minutes later magically the missing change appears mysteriously!
There can be change but YOU must insist on it. Scratch that. You must demand for CHANGE! Don’t give up on asking and they will make it happen. This is not restricted to just waiters and servers… but also politicians and public servants.
