The Right Time to Give Up

I haven’t been doing a lot of writing on this blog lately, apologies to all the readers. I happen to also manage two fast growing companies, one has to do with real estate- Abuja Shelter. So I’ve been working long and hard on putting together joint ventures for large real estate projects and I’ve been so consumed with networking, endless meetings, legal drafts, negotiations and site inspections, that it leaves me with zero mental energy required to write inspirational articles.

But the good news is I’ve successfully closed some of these real estate deals. I’ve also been unsuccessfully in securing some other deals. It’s the latter that you usually can’t get off your mind…. the ones that got away. You can imagine that somehow you lost. But then, can you lose what you never really had?

Sometimes you go all in. Give it all you’ve got. Go the extra mile. Do the visualizations and affirmations. Pay your tithes and give God promises of more to come…. but if only He can do this…..

Then nothings happens.

All your passion, time, energy and spirit has come to naught.

You feel your energy has been drained, your spirit dampened and your enthusiasm drowned.

Then you feel like really giving up. It feels like the right thing to do. You can rationalise your action by thinking, “well maybe God doesn’t want me to go down this route.”

And that’s exactly what separates losers from winners.

When all seems like it’s lost. Losers throw in the towel and rationalize that it’s the best thing to do.

Winners pick up the towel, wipe the sweat off their brows and the tears off their eyes. Then proceed to try again. A little more intelligently this time with the benefit of experience and the innate knowledge that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger and wiser.

Faith in yourself

The losers will tell their stories over and over and over again to anyone who has ears. They will tell you stories of how hard they worked and just how unfair life was to them. The winners on the other hand eventually show up with remarkable results. Then they work on replicating the success again and again and again.

results are worth the pain

Winning or losing in this game called Life isn’t a one-off event. It’s a mind-set and a paradigm shift. This paradigm shift doesn’t consist of just looking at things in a new way. Rather it is an entire new way of living.

So what to do when you’re feeling down? Rejuvenate yourself, take some time off like Tiger Woods did from golf, relax and during that time read inspirational books or listen to motivational audio programs, practice being more positive and optimistic by saying affirmations and declarations. Do anything else but do not give up. Ever. Because you never know how close your are to your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

So dust yourself up, dry your tears, take a deep breath and make a solemn vow never to give up until you succeed. Determination today leads to success tomorrow.

    • I believe that the failures and successes of others can teach and guide us like a map does when used properly.
