The first time I made the headlines was back in 2008. I was called Entrepreneur of the Month by Daily Trust Newspaper, February 14th. I was elated, my joy went through the roof…. I felt I had “arrived”. What folly!
Fast forward 5 years later and now I frequently get mentioned on T.V, radio and newspapers, I don’t even bother reading or watching or putting clips up on display. I just get random calls from family/friends telling me, “I saw you on blah, blah, blah”. So what changed?
I guess I did! I realised that popularity isn’t prosperity. Success isn’t a popularity contest, and if you really want to measure your life’s impact by how many Twitter followers or Facebook friends you have, then you’ve reduced your life to mere statistics.
So sharpen your focus like the lens of a camera or a sniper. Grow in your capability and expand your capacity for more knowledge, generosity and impact. Getting more Twitter followers, BBM contacts and blog readers should be the by-product not the focus itself.
